14. Honey Pork Ribs on Rice - Pigging out!

11am on the dot - right on opening. It is a very different vibe to a busy Friday night. The ribs are not ready yet (!) but I am happy to wait 20 minutes as they are the dish that sparked severe food envy in me on a recent KC date. In the meantime I partake in Pangang (see Bonus Post #2). It piques my appetite and when my food arrives my mouth is watering. The bok choy is its usual perfectly-steamed self: a generous portion. It totally makes the dish health-food right?

They say people eat with their eyes first and this vista is veritably lovely. The ribs are a cheery cherry red and my hypothesis is confirmed! The glaze is slightly sweet, tantalisingly tangy (perhaps a hint of vinegar or shaoxing) and satisfyingly sticky. They are on the bone this time so it is not the greatest amount of meat, which leaves plenty of room for green beans (dace fish, xo sauce, chilli - always the most dastardly of decisions). You know, before starting this blog I was not the greatest fan of pork, It would always be my last choice on a menu. KC has converted me! Now I have a peculiar penchant for pig... The mountain of rice is soaked in sauce and pork fat. Mmmmmm! I am already a little stuffed from my shrimpy snack so I only eat about half. At $13 (one of the cheaper menu items) it is damn good value.

Would I order it again? Yes - it was ribtastically riveting to my tastebuds and a lot of fun to eat. Next up: yet more BBQ!
